Speaking of "Green" Art...

An English urban intervention artists by the name of "filthyluker" created the following work called "Street Intervention". It sits somewhere between public art and graffiti. His work has a clear environmental message, drawing attention to the nature in the city.

These next two works by him reminded me of the video shown below, where Christopher Walken plays "The Gardener Who Is Very Scared Of Plants" in an old SNL skit [props to Servat] . I wonder which came first.

GREEN PORNO: It's not what you may think...

These are short educational and "entertaining" clips about how insects mate written and directed by Isabella Rosellini (she was also in Alias). She made this for what is now referred to as the "third" screen (ie- computers, phones, etc.), commissioned by the Sundance Festival. Check them out, you might learn about the crazy things that happen in your back yard.

Here is a trailer for the short films:

I see this stuff all over the news....

But I never realized this is everyday business in Pakistan! Hahaha!

About 4 years ago, my younger cousin made this video with his house guards in Pakistan. It was made to scare this high school student his own age (approx. 15 yo). I guess they had some beef. But if you understand any Punjabi or Urdu, you will find this hilarious. And if you don't, then just wait to see my cousin at the end trying to look and act all scary.

On a side note:
I hope the feds don't come banging on my door. It's sad that I am even second guessing myself from posting this on here. I shouldn't have to even worry about something as harmless as this.

I also apologize for the poor quality it was taken by phone and Blogger also condensed it.

I just cannot wait...

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA [The Final Episodes, SciFi] is scheduled to air in January 2009.

This is, in my opinion, hands-down, the best action/drama televisions series. Beautifully executed and brilliantly written. If you haven't seen the first 3.5 seasons, start now. You have four months to catch-up.

McCain's Genius

And it goes by the name of Sarah Palin, Republican candidate John McCain's nomination for VP.

For the record, I am an independent and still unsure who to vote for. But my hat goes off to McCain for his amazing campaign strategy.

First, McCain posts this video online and on television last night during Obama's acceptence speech at the Denver DNC:

Wow. Right? Kill'em with kindness?

Then today, he choses not only a woman, but the youngest governor of Alaska, as his running mate. Here is why I believe it is such a clever decision.

1.) She is a woman, and therefore might appeal to disgruntled Hillary fans, even though she has a very Pro-Life stance.
2.) She is very young (44), and therefore is the Republican's version of Obama (47).
3.) It got the attention off of the DNC and Obama in a heartbeat, which is exactly what McCain needed to do.
4.) It shows that he is progressive.

All in all, you can find flaws. Such as inexperience, but a lot of them would also point the finger right back at Obama (and his inexperience for example, which McCain could make up for potentially), which puts him in a tight spot.

So what are your thoughts? I think its pretty clever. Gets attention back to the GOP and mixes things up.

Square Root of Three Poem

I actually have to give props to my cousin, Nadia, for showing me this. It was made popular by the new Harold & Kumar movie (scene shown below).

The Square Root of 3
By Dave Feinberg

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

2012 London Summer Olympics Aquatic Center

Designed by architect Zaha Hadid, construction on the new aquatic center for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England has already begun. Check it out.

They are going to need more than fancy buildings to maintain popularity in sport of swimming - try another Michael Phelps.

Meet Takashi Murakami!

Most of you have seen his work in one way or another but you probably don't know who he is. For example, in around 2004, Murakami created the design pattern for Louis Vuitton that most of you have seen (sans eyes):

In 2001, I had the pleasure of seeing his exhibit at the Boston MFA while I was a summer student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. I even got to see him.

But now he has created a masterpiece for Kanye West's new single of "Good Morning". Check it out! It's amazing..

That's what she said..

A collection of all the "TWSS" moments from The Office.

For the record, the phrase "That's what she said!" has been around before The Office, but they just made it less awkward to say.

Zardari's life threatened!?

NO! Tell me it ain't true!

My only concern is that they miss and he continues to walk on his two feet.

Get the full story here

I love how the western press makes him sound like a such a good guy. I suppose the Pakistani people should also be blamed for, for even letting him get this well publicized and popular. Shameful.

RAK Gateway Project

Amazing!

A hotel, conference, and exhibition complex by Norwegian architects Snohetta in the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, UAE. Construction to begin later this year.

FIRST POST!!!

This should be interesting! In addition to e-mailing and Facebook, I am going to try this 'blogging shogging'. I feel like I am catching onto the tail-end of a fad, but I guess only time will tell.

What to expect here?

The unexpected, including links to articles, videos, pictures, etc. that I find when I am 'wasting' time online (which happens quite often).

Basically I am providing an entertaining, one-stop website with a little bit of everything. Just to expedite your surfing time so that you can be productive on my behalf.

Happy Surfing!!!
